Low-pressure appliances — nearly all household gas grills — run at roughly eleven inches of water column from a fixed regulator, while high-pressure burners, fryers and wok rings use an adjustable regulator rated in PSI.

On US 20 lb propane cylinders the connection is the QCC-1 / Type-1 fitting, which seals on a plastic face and only needs to be hand-tight; a wrench on that nut is what cracks it.

Do not extend a hose beyond the length the appliance manufacturer lists, and replace any hose that shows cracking at the crimp. Leak-check every new connection with soapy water before the first cook.
