Pressure washer fittings: M22 14mm, 15mm and 3/8 quick connect

An M22 label alone does not establish compatibility. Check whether the fitting is the 14mm or 15mm connection, which ends are male or female, and what connection is required at the other side. A 3/8-inch quick connect is a separate connection format, not another name for M22.

This is a buying checklist for pressure washer adapters. It does not replace the equipment manufacturer’s installation or operating instructions. Identify the two ends before choosing an adapter

Record the washer’s full model number and the model of any replacement gun or hose already fitted. Use their manuals or manufacturer specifications to identify each connection. A brand name can cover several designs. Avoid buying from a general statement that every machine from a brand uses one fitting.

Write a simple connection description: the existing end, its male or female form, and the connection needed on the accessory. Check sealing details as well as nominal size. A threaded part that begins to screw on can still have the wrong sealing geometry. Never force a mismatched connection to make it appear compatible.

Keep the different labels separate

The numbers are not an instruction to select by appearance alone. Use the part diagram or specification for the equipment. If the connection is proprietary or unclear, ask the manufacturer rather than assembling a chain of guessed adapters.

Check the complete system’s ratings

Compare the manufacturer-stated pressure, temperature and application limits for the hose, gun, adapter and machine. A high number on one component does not increase the rating of the rest of the system. Do not infer a hot-water rating, chemical compatibility or approved use from a brass finish or an “M22” title.

Follow the machine manual when shutting down, relieving pressure and checking connections. Do not handle or disconnect pressurized fittings. If the specifications are missing or contradictory, stop the comparison and request the exact information before purchase. This guide deliberately does not supply a generic assembly method.

Keep a written record of the original connection and any adapter already installed. A used machine may have been modified, so its current hose connection should be checked alongside the original equipment specification.

Check the actual pack and current listing

A six-piece kit may include different connector types rather than six copies of one adapter. Compare package photos and the written contents with the connections you need. Do not assume extra seals, a hose or a spray gun come with the pack unless the listing expressly includes them.

Can I use a garden hose adapter instead?
